NATURAL TECHNOLOGY - BRICKS GENERAL 

Forming Bricks
Required:

  1. Split a 4 in wide wooden log into two.
  2. Cut ends so that they fit together by friction with the flat sides facing each other.(see figure)
  3. Repeat to make a square form the size of the desired brick.
  4. Place the form on flat hard dirt ground.
  5. Pour the wet brick material (see below) into the form.
  6. Allow it to dry for a few moments. Add more material as needed.
  7. Remove the form from the sides

NATURAL TECHNOLOGY - HOT BRICKS 

Hot Bricks
Required: Clay, Kiln or Pit Firing
Note: used for extremely hot conditions

  1. Mix 1 part clay to 1 part saw dust.
  2. Add water to obtain desired consistency.
  3. Pour into brick form. (see above)
  4. Fire in kiln or pit fire.

NATURAL TECHNOLOGY - COLD BRICKS 

Cold Bricks
Required: Clay, Cement, Kiln or Pit Firing

  1. Mix 5 parts clay to 5 parts ash.
  2. Add 1 part cement.
  3. Add water to obtain desired consistency.
  4. Pour into mold (see Bricks)
  5. Dry in the sun.
  6. Fire in kiln or pit fire.
